Gabriel Penedo Priante Silva

Hi, I’m Gabe! I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. Afterward, I spent a year gaining professional experience as an Area Manager at Amazon, where I had the chance to lead a team of over 60 associates and sharpen my leadership and problem-solving skills. That experience ultimately motivated me to return to Pitt to pursue the Master of Quantitative Economics, where I look forward to building stronger technical and analytical skills while preparing to apply them in both professional and academic contexts.

I’ve always been passionate about the environment, and I created EnviroEcon as a personal project to explore how economics can be used to better understand and address environmental challenges. I enjoy dedicating time to researching and writing for the site, and I see it as a way to connect what I’m learning in the classroom to issues that matter beyond campus. Looking ahead, I hope to continue developing this work as part of my career and contribute to finding data-driven solutions to sustainability challenges.

Outside of school, I work as a barista and enjoy staying connected to my other passions. I grew up playing soccer, which taught me the value of teamwork and perseverance, and I still love following the game—especially my favorite clubs, AC Milan, and PSG. I also enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors, and being with my family and my dog, Mel.
